• (Sur)Real Interview with Larry David

Hello,

Last year I flew to Los Angeles and interviewed ‘Seinfeld’ co-creator and star of HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ Larry David, over lunch at an exclusive LA restaurant. You know, one of those fancy places where all the walls are painted different colours… I didn’t bring my video camera, as it was a radio interview, but I have reconstructed the events of that afternoon using still photographs taken at the time by a crazed fan… Enjoy.

Kind regards,
David M. Green

• David M. Green Does Melbourne, Richard Marsland (not sexually)

Hello man/woman/child,

I’ve just been in Melbourne the last 4 days with my lovely girlfriend Jemima. Had a fantastic time! Trams! Oh the trams! Did I mention I’m an avid proponent of light rail infrastructure?

We saw, amongst other things, the zoo, where we observed a couple of horny shrews chasing each other… well, one horny shrew really, chasing a shrew that didn’t appear quite as horny. Who knows though? She could be playing hard to get… or “he”… his/her choice and a valid one… the animal kingdom can be a harsh mistress… or male… Also, I was attacked by butterflies, as can be seen in the photos below. Note my frightened appearance…

We also saw the “Game On” video game exhibit in Federation Square, which was amazing; a ‘Video Game Museum!’ It was kinda strange to see a Nintendo 64 behind glass though. There were consoles I’d never even heard of before, like all these weird ones from the ’70s. Plus they had original playable arcade games! Missile Command, Space Invaders, PacMan, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Berzerk. Fantastic! See photos below…

(Photography was prohibited)

But by far the highlight of the trip was catching up with panel-operator heavy-weight Richard Marsland (of “Get This” fame, currently on Melbourne’s Triple M Breakfast show with Peter Helliar & Myf Warhurst) in a Bourke Street cafe. I gave him a shirt specially labelled for the occasion (see photo at top of this entry). I am, afterall, currently working as a panel operator at SAFM, the very position once held by the man himself.

I can definitely see myself living in Melbourne eventually, especially if I want to continue doing comedy on radio (and TV). Melbourne’s just like Adelaide really… just with it’s act together.

Kind regards,
David M. Green

• David M. Green’s Comedy Machine now on Internet Radio!

Hi,

David M. Green here. Please feel free to call me DMG for short. Ironic twist about that. I work at SAFM, which is owned by Austereo. One of SAFM’s rival radio stations is Nova, which is owned by the Daily Mirror Group (DMG for short), and since it’s probably frowned upon to mention the competition on air, I’ll probably never be able to point out this amusing ‘spot of irony,’ unless via the Internet of course, where everything goes… everything…

Anyway, some great news if you’re a crazed fan of my comedy shows I did on community radio. No, there’s been no change in the cost of Prozac (fingers crossed). BUT… I CAN say the purpose of this blog is to inform YOU that you can now hear my old shows (The Green Room, Brain Damage & Pow-Wow) every Wednesday evening as they’re re-broadcast (syndicated… if you will) on Traxx Radio from sunny Brisbane, Australia!

The 3 shows are being played in their glorious entirety under the name “David M. Green’s Comedy Machine” every Wednesday 7PM GMT+10 (so that’s 6:30PM in Adelaide), starting from Wednesday July 16th 2008. Just go to www.traxxradio.net to listen online and the laughter will live on… that sounded a little corny. Do we have anything better? …We don’t… ok. Denise could you also pick up my dry-cleaning? Thanks. Oh yeah, just finish that up for me. End dictation.

Kind regards,
David M. Green
