  • Julia Gillard soundboard prank calls!

    Hello!

With only two days until the federal election, I thought I’d give Prime Minister Julia Gillard a helping hand by impersonating her electronically and calling some “Working Australians”…

And here’s the entire prank call segment from this morning’s Get Cereal breakfast show on Melbourne’s SYN 90.7FM:

    Julia Gillard Soundboard Prank Calls!

It’s been quite a busy couple of weeks getting this stunt off the ground. Thanks to producer Tim Cuthell for begging me to do some more prank calls and getting the ball rolling. Thank you to the team at SYN for supporting my idea and getting the tech guy to come in last week to alter the control panel in the production studio that allowed me to actually make these calls. And thanks to Charles and Luke from Get Cereal. It was a real pleasure this morning. The most fun I’ve had on radio in quite some time.

My guest appearance is now a regular thing. Tune in every Thursday 8:30am to hear me goofing around and paying my dues with David M. Green’s Community Service! Or go here to listen to past material.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green

  • Fans of radio sketch comedy, David M. Green is on SYN!

Are you as crazy about David M. Green as these people:

If you answered “yes” the police are already on their way to your home and/or office to “help you”.

    But enough of that… Hello!

Yes, I’m David M. Green and I’m making radio sketches again! If you’re in the Melbourne area, tune into SYN 90.7FM Sunday evenings 7pm-8pm. There’s a show on called “In Joke”.

Unlike my other radio shows back in Adelaide, I didn’t “invent” this show (I don’t quite have the time to commit to that just at the moment). In Joke has been running for some length of time, I’m not really sure exactly. I don’t have the details, because it’s not my show! Some other guys host it. But they’re light on pre-recorded material. That’s where I come in. They’ve provided me with an outlet for my love of making radio sketch comedy. Find out more about the show itself here or join the Facebook fan page.

I must stress, I’m just the sketch guy. This isn’t my show. However, you can hear my sketches right here. These ones aired tonight…

I will create a “SYN” page for the permanent collection, like I’ve done with my previous regular radio appearances.

Great to get back into it. And please, enjoy!

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
Doe he like to talk about himself in the 3rd person? HE SURE DOES!

  • Forgotten sketches from a Damaged Brain…

    Hello!

I was browsing my old Radio Adelaide folders in a dusty corner of my external hard drive (I have a serious dust problem in my bedroom at the moment… gotta stop shedding all this skin…) and I came across some old radio sketches from a show I did back in 2007 called Brain Damage. And I couldn’t believe that for some reason or another, I hadn’t uploaded these ones. I think because Radio’s Nathan Sharrad edited these particular sketches, and I didn’t initially have them on my computer when I created the Brain Damage page coming up on 3 years ago. In any case, it slipped my mind.

Enough time has passed for me to completely forget these, and so it was like listening to them all for the first time. I’m very happy they still crack me up; One of the advantages of not doing topical humour. Nice foresight, past me! Actually it was more Nick Godfrey and Nathan Sharrad – I believe they wrote and or edited these ones. However, you can hear the competent vocal performances of all three of us, as well as the resplendent Matty B. They’ve been added to the Brain Damage page, but for your convenience, here they are right here. It’s four young guys having a hell of a lot of fun! Enjoy.

Stay tuned for more original David M. Green radio sketches. I’m switching back into production mode on Melbourne’s SYN 90.7FM!

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green

  • Shame Shame Shame.

    Hello!

Yes, I’ve been brushing shoulders, literally, with the “Scrabble elite”. On Monday I accompanied fellow RMIT post-grad journalism student, Newspaper’s Ben Hagemann, as HE interviewed Radio (and TV)’s Derryn Hinch at the 3AW studios on fabulous Spencer Street, Docklands!

Ben accompanied me on my recent interviews with Micallef and Vine, so I returned the favour and acted as his photographer, snapping this shot:

Plus I kinda just wanted to meet Derryn Hinch and listen to what he had to say on the topic of “citizen journalism” (and a few Scrabble-related queries too). It was a load off not actually having to DO the interview. I just sat there. Very interesting indeed. I decided I wasn’t going to ask for a photo, because I thought that might be a bit awkward, but then after I took Ben’s, Derryn asked if I’d like one too. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity. Of course, in hindsight, I could hardly say: “No thanks, I’ll be right… Jerk.” That’s just rude.

We were there for about 5 minutes before Ben’s interview was interrupted by Derryn’s producer, who burst in with, “Sorry Derryn, but we’ve got a huge story.” Ben and I were pushed out while a few phone calls were made. After another 5 minutes in the foyer, we were allowed back into his office, only to be informed personally by Derryn Hinch that “Carl Williams has been stabbed to death in prison”. I must admit, I didn’t really know who that was, but I’ve never seen “Underbelly”. Incidentally, later that day we learned that he wasn’t actually stabbed, but beaten to death, rather, with part of an exercise bike no less. Who ever said a little exercise never hurt anyone?

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
    HEY! IT’S DERRYN HINCH!

  • Sam Mac? Yes.

It was a meeting of two former SAFM panel-operators at my house this week as Sam Mac came to visit, where he was immediately presented with a copy of “David M. Green: The Radio Adelaide Years” by the one and only (as is the custom with all visitors to Casa de Verde), the moment snapped up by his personal paparazzo (Tim Wray). Needless to say, Sam Mac couldn’t conceal his excitement, as can clearly be seen in the above photograph.

But seriously, but still in a funny way, Radio’s Sam Mac took a bit of a risk by agreeing to team up with local sporting/comedy personality Alex “Shooter” Williamson and myself to film a sketch for no reason. Sam was in Adelaide for a few days, taking a well deserved break from hosting breakfast on Perth’s 92.9. Shooter and I were, naturally, doing nothing. The three of us actually got together December 23rd 2009 to film some stuff. Turned out pretty funny (I reckon, anyway). I thought we all meshed really well with each other. We met up again this week to take a look at a rough cut version of the sketch and to put the finishing touches on. So the good news for YOU is that the sketch in question, yet to be named (but heavily DMG-focused), will be appearing on the Internet for your viewing pleasure sometime very soon…

In the mean time, here are a couple of still images (or stillies) with some cryptic clues and references to the somewhat anticipated up-coming Mac/Green/Williamson audio-visual creative debut:

    Okay, possibly a chair?

Right, so something about music and chairs. Hmm… what COULD that possibly be? What are you, an idiot? It’s clearly to do with musical chairs… Jesus…

So to quote Dutch street-fighting sensation Bas Rutten: Watch out for that. Very dangerous.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
