  • 31 Questions Season 2 Episode 3

S2E03 of 31 Questions premiered on C31 Melbourne & Geelong Saturday evening. See above.

I enjoyed repeatedly slapping Anthony. And special thanks to this week’s contestants Richard and Simone. It was a tight game. Though not quite as tight as THIS WEEK’S game… Tune in on C31 Melbourne & Geelong Saturday 8.30PM (Look out for cameos from Dan Ilic and Rex Hunt!).

In other news, to the surprise of many (including us), Season 2 began airing in Brisbane this week! It’s now on the 31 Digital schedule, Tuesdays 9PM. Those Queenslanders have obviously been preoccupied with deciding the next federal government, so no hard feelings. It’s not like they also did it last year as well.

    Na, Brisbane you’re great.

We were due to start airing in New Zealand on Wednesday, but thanks to our good friends at Australia Post, we’re now premiering NEXT week: 9.30PM Wednesdays on Face Television from August 21. Apologies if you haven’t worked out how to use YouTube.

But more importantly… 31 Questions BEGINS IN SYDNEY TONIGHT 9.30!

That’s me aged 9 in Darling Harbour. I assume that water feature is still there? I remember being excited because I’d seen it in the opening (or was it the closing?) titles of Aerobics Oz-Style before Agro’s Cartoon Connection. Anyway Sydney, I’ll talk to YOU on Twitter later this evening.

As for Adelaide… well I discovered their fabulous community television station has gone through some structural changes recently. I’m not sure exactly why. But I do know that their name, phone number and address have all changed. I also discovered this after I mailed them the first 2 episodes. In a media format they no longer accept.

As far as I can tell, it’s no longer called “44 Adelaide”, but rather “Channel 44”. Good move, in my opinion. Why limit yourself to Adelaide? They’re looking at the big picture. And the picture is magnificent. Assuming you’re in the Adelaide metropolitan area where the picture is transmitted.

Doesn’t look like 31 Questions will be airing in Adelaide until September or October. Though we might get a repeat of our first season before they start showing Season 2. I’ll keep you updated.

I’ve been getting more requests for ways you can throw money at me, and to a lesser extent, the show. I can now announce there are TWO types of mugs available from the 31 Questions online store:

Perfect for holding all types of liquids. And for the fabulous price of $20 + postage, you can support me, 31 Questions, community television AND own a mug.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
    Now where were we?

  • 31 Questions Season 2 Episode 2

31 Questions S2E02 aired on C31 Melbourne & Geelong on Saturday 3 August 2013. Could we have conjured a more “game showy” picture than the one in the above YouTube preview image?

If so, I’d like to see it.

Anthony McCormack did a sensational job editing/booty-shaking this one. And I love his Don Bradman gag. Sequentially, this was actually the third episode we shot for this season, and from memory there were quite a lot of problems that night. So it’s good to see it wasn’t a complete write-off (like the first two!).

    Other 31Q things…

Thursday evening marked my first time on Melbourne radio station 3AW. I had a chat with Philip Brady, Simon Owens and John Blackman about the show (mainly mine, not so much theirs). Both John and Simon have made appearances on 31 Questions. Their episodes are coming up in the next few weeks.

Amazingly in this media-saturated modern world of ours, the 3AW webcam video of my interview was on YouTube within minutes. Saves me uploading the audio myself. Check it out (stay watching right til the end to see some innovative signaling from the panel operator):

Here’s an interesting bit of news. I was about to reveal it on 3AW before getting sidetracked, but in our upcoming fifth episode – which was actually the sixth one we taped and will air in Melbourne on August 24 – not only is that the episode John Blackman makes an appearance, but the dude contestant that week is Rohan Zorz, who just Monday entered the Big Brother house as a “latecomer” contestant on Channel Nine!?!

I find this all very bizarre. Usually Big Brother contestants appear on game shows AFTER they’re kicked out of the house.

Read Rohan’s profile on the Big Brother website (if you dare visit a reality television website).

Unfortunately, a cursory glance at the #BBAU tweets shows a general hatred of Rohan. Exactly how this legion of teenage girls with anti-Rohan agendas will affect 31 Questions is yet to be fully understood.

And lastly, due to repeated requests for fabulous 31 Questions merchandise, I’ve set up an online store on Big Cartel. Check out our NEW 31 Questions 31-Stop Shop!

At the moment, we’ve got the classic DMG mug for sale for the reduced price of $20. We’re working on some new designs, so keep checking to see what we’ve got in stock. All proceeds will go towards the future of 31 Questions (there’s already been talk of a third season 😉 ).

See you Saturday for Ep 3.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
Still not going to watch Big Brother.

  • 31 Questions Ep #03

In case you haven’t seen the pattern here, there’s now a new episode of “31 Questions” (the TV game show all the cool kids are ignoring) every week!

If you’re enjoying the show, it would really mean a lot to me if you could tell someone about it. If you think comedy on Australian television is fairly ordinary and you’d like to see more shows like this, all you have to do is post the video on your Facebook page or retweet @31Questions. We don’t have a huge PR department like the proper TV stations, so help me [Obi Wan Kenobi]. You’re our only hope.

Episode #3 features the gag round “Knowing Me, Knowing You” (for Alan Partridge and ABBA fans alike), where contestants are tested on their knowledge of their own personal details.

Do YOU know what colour shirt you’re wearing in your driver’s licence photo? Hey don’t cheat!

And thanks to some fabulous directing, there’s a freeze frame gag there too, which considering the video is on YouTube and you can easily pause it, means that jokes that are barely in frame still work.

There is however, a frustratingly tragic audio glitch right on the punchline of one of my favourite gags from the whole series. RIGHT ON THE MOST IMPORTANT WORD OF THE WHOLE JOKE… We didn’t discover it until it was already too late to shoot it as a pick-up shot.

We tried everything but we just couldn’t fix it. Re-recording the audio made it even more obvious. So we left it in because we figured we could just blame Channel 31 and say it was a transmission problem, which of course it isn’t. Channel 31 are fantastic.

And I only did that gag once on the show!

    Damn.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
