  • 31 Questions season finale for Adelaide and Perth this week

Due to a mix up in Western Australia, Adelaide has somehow overtaken Perth and will be the first non-Melbourne city to to see the season finale of 31 Questions! How AMAZING is that!?!

Episode 13 of the low budget TV game show all the critics are ignoring was supposed to air on WTV Perth last Saturday, but they made a last minute schedule change. Perth fans can now catch the last episode of season 1 THIS coming Saturday, 24 November 11.30PM (that’s digital channel 44). So scratch that in your fridge.

Adelaide, on the other hand, can watch it first TONIGHT 10.30PM on 44 Adelaide. By gum, that’s only 90 minutes from now!

Left this blog entry a little late…

I was back in Adelaide a couple of weeks ago and did a bit of a radio station crawl. Just after midnight on Monday November 5, I stopped by FiveAA 1395AM to have a chat with Peter Godfrey. Technically, I was his lead guest for the week.

We talked about 31 Questions (obviously), Adelaide versus Melbourne, community TV in general, and some other things that probably aren’t that important. Have a listen here:

    [display_podcast]

Incredibly, Peter Godfrey does that midnight to 6am shift all by himself. No panel operator. And no producer! He screens all the calls himself. Incredible. An absolute pro.

At one point I left the studio to grab a glass of water and take another selfie photo of me in front of the sign and I actually got lost. That FiveAA office is a maze. Ing.

Now for most media whores, that would be enough for the night, but not me. No sir. When it comes to radio, I just can’t quit.

So I hopped in the car (Dad’s), and drove from Hindmarsh Square to fabulous 228 North Terrace for a pre-recorded interview with John Murch at Radio Adelaide 101.5FM. It was about 3AM by the time I left. Not sure when that interview will air. I guess just listen out for RadioNotes on a Sunday night.

Oh, while I’m here, just one more thing. Back in 2007 I won an “Bilby” award for “Best Station ID” at the 2007 South Australian Community Broadcasting Association Awards. It was on display in the Radio Adelaide foyer when I was last there in 2009. But it ain’t there now!

In fact, there’s a space where it should be. There’s awards from 1985 all the way up to 2006. Then the awards just jump to 2008!

So if anyone’s seen it, I’d be very interested to know its current whereabouts. To my knowledge there was only one copy.

And I couldn’t imagine there’d be any single past or present Radio Adelaide station volunteer who would want to see harm come to a physical representation of my talent…

Ha, but seriously… I want that award back.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
    Are Bilbys rare or something?

  • 31 Questions: The royal flush of TV game shows

I hope you enjoy the above montage of some of the classier moments on 31 Questions.

Also, if you’re in Melbourne you may have seen an article about 31 Questions and other Channel 31 shows in your free copy of The Weekly Review?

I’m not sure where exactly this magazine is distributed. And in fact it might not even be in your local edition (doesn’t seem to be in the Hawthorn one). But it’s a moot point, because you can read it online.

Myke Bartlett was very flattering: “As host, Green is engaging and charismatic. It isn’t hard to imagine him crossing to a commercial network.”

    Well shucks.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
That’s at present the front-running quote for the hypothetical flyer for my non-existent Comedy Festival stand-up show.

  • 31 Questions now on TV in Sydney & Brisbane!

That’s right rest of the east coast!

My hilariously low budget TV game show “31 Questions” debuted in the Harbour City on Monday evening to much fanfare:

And for the next 13 weeks, Sydneysiders can catch the show Monday 9.30PM, Wednesday 11.30PM & Sunday 12.30AM on digital channel 44.

But if this doesn’t apply to you, there’s a slim chance this will… because approximately 930km north in The Sunshine State, 31 Questions is coming to Brisbane!

    Horay!

Brisbane folk will be able to take advantage of the best time slot of any of the Australian community TV stations and watch us Sunday 9PM and Thursday 8.30PM on 31 Digital (channel 44).

The fun starts this Sunday, 7 October!

In the mean time, here’s another outtake highlighting some of our crazy technical difficulties:

    Questions. Answers. Repeats.

  • 31 Questions Ep #13: Season 1 Finale

Well that’s it. The debut season of 31 Questions is DONE.

It’s been quite a journey, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Someone who I can’t thank enough is Anthony McCormack. Not only did he crack me up week after week as the show’s Moderator, but for the last 3 months he’s been the poor sap editing all that footage and physically bringing it into Channel 31. All unpaid.

I’m especially relieved we (and when I say “we”, I mean Anthony) got every episode to air and didn’t have to do repeat one.

There were a few weeks where we (and when I say “we”, I mean Anthony) got it into Channel 31 literally the night before it was going to air.

Though I hear those Chaser boys have previously handed their tape into the ABC with mere minutes to spare.

    So where to from here?

Well I’ll tell you what you can look forward to… (and when I say “you”, I mean Anthony)

As Anthony wound up editing the episodes the weeks they were to be broadcast, he didn’t have time to do anything with the bloopers and the stuff we (and when I say “we”…) had to cut out because we (Anthony) were overtime. Some of it was very painful to condemn to the cutting room floor.

But Anthony tells me he put all this stuff to one side with the intention of later turning it into exclusive YouTube gold. So look out for a whole pile of low budget game show extras coming soon to an Internet near YOU!

    Stuff like THIS:

But the televisual fun continues around Australia in cities less liveable than Melbourne.

While tweeting along to Ep #2 last night as it went to air in Perth, I discovered you can actually stream WestTV online! MIND = BLOWN!

SA, I’ll see you tonight on 44 Adelaide. Ep #2 is on at 10.30PM.

Still waiting on broadcast times and start dates for Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland. But you’ll be the first to know. Well, obviously after me and the people at the TV stations who are making those decisions. I mean, you’re hardly going to find out before them.

    That’s just ridiculous.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
    And accepting job offers… nnnnnnNow!

  • 31 Questions Ep #12: Penultimayhem!

    MMMMYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!

It’s the second to last episode of season 1 of 31 Questions! And in my opinion, this episode is the best one.

It features my favourite segment from the series: “Showboating” – where contestants David & Erin have to name the boat. Special thanks to Maritime Union of Australia President Paddy Crumlin (actually his name).

And a welcome to our new fans in Perth and Adelaide after this week’s debut in those two cities.

I’ve been whoring myself in the Adelaide media this week.

Here’s me on Radio Adelaide 101.5FM’s “Radionotes” with John Murch.

And then I had a chat with Peter Godfrey on FiveAA.

I also made my first appearance in The Adelaide Advertiser since my 1987 birth notice:

Fantastic media coverage for a community TV show with no PR budget. If I do say so myself, because I sure as hell am not paying anyone else to.

Big thanks to the Adelaide Confidential section of The Advertiser!

We’re even willing to overlook the fact they forgot to mention the NAME OF THE SHOW…

But to their credit, all the other facts are spot on.

I’ve just seen the rough cut of our season finale, which goes to air tomorrow, Saturday 10PM on Channel 31 Melbourne & Geelong.

First day of spring. Last night of 31 Questions.

I’m sad it’s coming to an end. Of course, it’s not the complete end. It’s only just beginning on TV in the other cities, and still yet to debut in others still.

There was so much we wanted to get into the last show. I’ve made sure we didn’t cut me thanking on screen all of the important people who made 31 Questions possible.

Although it may be tedious for you the viewer to watch me list a bunch of names of people you’ve never heard of, if it weren’t for them, you wouldn’t be watching me tediously listing those names on TV… so think about that.

And if you liked our Facebook Page before Tuesday, get your freeze-framing finger ready because your name’s being broadcast!

I predict you’re going to love it.
