  • The Magic Factory Podcast! 3SYN 90.7FM

    Yes finally!

It’s been two weeks since Antonio Cafasso and I teamed up for a 7-hour straight graveyard broadcast on Melbourne’s SYN 90.7FM, and I’ve finally cut together the podcast.

Now, I know you people are busy with your various “commitments” (work/family/various drug addictions/etc.) so I’ve created a “Best of The Magic Factory” podcast just for you, the listener on the go:

The Magic Factory – BEST OF – Podcast  (66 mins)
Featuring the best bits of David M. Green & Antonio Cafasso’s graveyard shift on 3SYN 90.7FM January 27-28 2011. Taylor’s Hill Tailors, Antonio’s weight loss job, David M. Green’s Songs to Have Sex to, live cross to Sam Mac in Perth, Shane Warne Soundboard Prank Calls, re-setting public transport, The Magic Factory Newsroom, fun with sound effects & Alan Jones clips, song intro challenge, Lorne Lawns & a live call from “Steve” at a Lilydale petrol station.

But for the REAL fans, or if you just don’t have a life and you’d like to listen to the FULL podcast, you’re in luck!

The complete The Magic Factory podcast can be downloaded below in three parts, for your convenience. Obviously the music has been removed, which reduces 7 hours to about 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Perfect for any long drive (when, for some reason, you don’t want to listen to music). Alternatively, import them into your Grand Theft Auto PC game so you can listen to Antonio and me play wacky sound effects as you mow down hookers with an AK-47!

The Magic Factory FULL Podcast PART #1 (72 mins)
Taylor’s Hill Tailors, driving in Melbourne & dealing with VicRoads, Antonio’s weight loss job, David M. Green’s Songs to Have Sex to, live cross to Sam Mac in Perth, Shane Warne Soundboard Prank Calls,  re-setting public transport, Too Easy: The Webseries & DMG’s pen.

The Magic Factory FULL Podcast PART #2 (72 mins)
DMG’s adventures in commercial radio, The Magic Factory Newsroom, origins of the Alan Jones clips, horrible share-housing experiences, Peter Macinkovic calls in, DMG records some demo radio talkbreaks for Gold 104.3FM, song intro challenge, Antonio’s hilarious fart sounds, Lorne Lawns & Rove L.A.

The Magic Factory FULL Podcast PART #3 (79 mins)
Elaborately over-produced IDs, bed music samples, Adelaide v. Melbourne, more Alan Jones, DMG “picks up” at the cinema, texts from the listeners, David M. Green’s Songs to Have Sex to (reprise), DMG’s “31 Questions” TV game show pilot, a live call from “Steve” at a Lilydale petrol station, plans for the day, a chat with Nicholas Waxman from “Get Cereal” & a live call from “Jennifer”, some random listener.

Overall a fantastic experience. Comedy on radio is a huge passion of mine and it was great to get back behind the panel. Although, I’m not jumping at the opportunity to do 7 hours straight again… This is us at 6AM…

Although, a return to a regular hour slot is not out of the question. The question is where, who and when…

Special thanks again to Antonio. You can hear from the clips we were genuinely having a great time. The laughter is real, I can assure you. That’s what makes great radio, in my opinion.

    Happy listening.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green

  • Forgotten sketches from a Damaged Brain…

    Hello!

I was browsing my old Radio Adelaide folders in a dusty corner of my external hard drive (I have a serious dust problem in my bedroom at the moment… gotta stop shedding all this skin…) and I came across some old radio sketches from a show I did back in 2007 called Brain Damage. And I couldn’t believe that for some reason or another, I hadn’t uploaded these ones. I think because Radio’s Nathan Sharrad edited these particular sketches, and I didn’t initially have them on my computer when I created the Brain Damage page coming up on 3 years ago. In any case, it slipped my mind.

Enough time has passed for me to completely forget these, and so it was like listening to them all for the first time. I’m very happy they still crack me up; One of the advantages of not doing topical humour. Nice foresight, past me! Actually it was more Nick Godfrey and Nathan Sharrad – I believe they wrote and or edited these ones. However, you can hear the competent vocal performances of all three of us, as well as the resplendent Matty B. They’ve been added to the Brain Damage page, but for your convenience, here they are right here. It’s four young guys having a hell of a lot of fun! Enjoy.

Stay tuned for more original David M. Green radio sketches. I’m switching back into production mode on Melbourne’s SYN 90.7FM!

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green

  • THE Big Show! That’s… 3 Ms

    He-he-hey!

What’s up? No time to wait for you to answer. Get a load of this…

You can hear the audio fruits of last week’s recording day in the form of “THE Big Show” on the tree that is the Triple M network in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide this Sunday August 30 10pm-midnight as part of Semi-Pro Radio! We reveal some ridiculous movie trailers, weird stores and what some people have carelessly left lying around Triple M. Plus Nick’s tips on avoiding Swine Flu, a trip down That’s Sexist lane, prank calls with a Smiddy soundboard, lawnmowers coming out the back-lot and some other junk we managed to throw together at the last minute before we were shown the door!  THE Big Show! It’s funny (51% new material).

It really has been a fantastic experience. If nothing else it’s been an excuse to catch up with Matty B again, whom I haven’t seen since he last left Adelaide to return to Sydney about 18 months ago. He came over for 2 weeks and the whole team (Matty B, Nick, Adam, Tim & myself) all met every couple of days to discuss, write, plan, analyse, nit-pick and then record the show (in between just hanging out and wasting time). In a way it would have been easier if we were doing 20 shows, but because we’re only doing it once, the pressure’s on to make it the best…

There’s still some finishing touches to make before it all goes to air in a week’s time. I’ll post more soon.

    Kind regards,
    David MMM. Green

  • Carole Whitelock’s invitation to The Dream Factory

    Hey hey,

What a bizarre situation I found myself in yesterday… After a chance meeting with 891 ABC Adelaide’s own Carole Whitelock, whilst working at the Palace Nova cinema (I was working there, not her, obviously), one thing lead to another (no, not in THAT direction…) and she invited me onto her radio show!

I’m of course no stranger to ABC 891. Last year I made some appearances and performed sketch comedy for Peter Goers. Funnily enough, it was that experience, combined with listening to a lot of AM radio in general, that provided the inspiration for my latest comedy show “On The Yacht.” The show featured a number of characters, most of which were based on other personalities from the AM-band. And there I was, ON one of the very shows we, let’s be honest, pillaged for material, talking about how we did it…

I was allowed to play a couple of clips from “On The Yacht.” Surreal to hear them broadcast via amplified modulation, presumably to an audience, which was a nice change. And so much fun. Had a slight technical problem recording it, but hopefully I’ll have the audio up here soon. It’s light entertainment, so I couldn’t be too zany. But then again, that’s what “On The Yacht” was all about… at least, initially… but then it got pretty zany at the end… I think we had a ghost in the studio at one point…

But anyway, here’s the clip: Click here click here click here. And thank you also to Elk and Robbie, Carole’s fantastic producers, who, unlike certain others that shall remain nameless, managed to play the sketches without cutting them off with a bushfire alert.

    Kind regards,
    David M. Green
