    Above is the first of many Shane Warne soundboard prank calls coming soon to the Internet!

    Antonio Cafasso and I made them for our graveyard shift on SYN 90.7FM last Thursday, which we dubbed “The Magic Factory”.

    As I gradually make my way through the 7 consecutive hours of radio we broadcast to Melbourne and beyond, I’ll eventually assemble a “best-of” podcast for you. Such a podcast will be considerably shorter than 7 hours, I can assure you.

    Overall it was a fantastic experience. We both had a lot of fun. And we had listeners from as far away as Kansas City, Missouri tuning in! I’m looking at YOU Brad Westmar!

    The period from 11:30PM to 3:30AM was probably the best. After that we ran out of pre-recorded stuff, as well as things to talk about, and we just got freaking tired. From memory I think the last couple of hours got a little weird.

    Personally, I think David M. Green’s Songs to Have Sex to is my favourite. I truly am a terrible singer.

    Many thanks to Antonio and everyone who listened and texted in. And thanks to Alan Jones and his bite-sized pieces of audio rage for hours of small hour amusement!

    We had a few callers too but the SYN studio phone doesn’t ring and the tiny little red light wasn’t always in our line of sight, so I apologise if we didn’t pick up everytime.

    This has certainly re-lit my spark for audio production. I think a return to the air waves on a more regular basis isn’t too far off.

    It’s been quite a busy couple of weeks getting this stunt off the ground. Thanks to producer Tim Cuthell for begging me to do some more prank calls and getting the ball rolling. Thank you to the team at SYN for supporting my idea and getting the tech guy to come in last week to alter the control panel in the production studio that allowed me to actually make these calls. And thanks to Charles and Luke from Get Cereal. It was a real pleasure this morning. The most fun I’ve had on radio in quite some time.

BUT… rumour has it he’s put out a range of audio tapes containing 16 helpful money-saving phrases that’ll help you in your pursuit of a life of luxury… For only $978.95 you’ll have the potential to earn (scam) yourself millions of dollars! So for the career investor (criminal) it’s no doubt a wise choice.

    As a brief demonstration of Smiddy’s latest product (scam), I put Smiddy’s 16 phrases to good use and called a local pizza place to try to get some money out of them. A visualisation of the call can be viewed below…

    How freaking unbelievable is that!?! This is NOT the soundboard that I used to make the Bas Rutten calls. Before I made the prank calls above for my radio show Pow-Wow no Bas Rutten soundboard existed, but this one features many of the same clips I used, plus more. What do you know?   • Bas Rutten directing traffic now?

    Hey there friendly user,

    What’s up? Don’t bother responding, I won’t be able to hear you… Oh wait, you could leave a comment… Sorry, I keep forgetting people can do that, as so few people do. So why not show those losers up by posting a comment? Or don’t, whatever… I’m just trying to be friendly here… Oh great now I’ve lost my train of thought. Hey don’t make that face at me!

    Anyway, have I got an interesting tidbit of fact for you… Ok, as religious listeners of my comedy show “Pow-Wow” on Radio Adelaide 101.5FM would know, on the show we recently did some prank calls using a soundboard of famed Dutch street-fighting sensation Bas Rutten. Without sounding arrogant (oh who am I kidding?) they were HILARIOUS! I do believe it’s the funniest thing I’ve done, and probably will ever do. So I guess I should get out of the comedy game while I’m still on top… ahhhhh I’ll take my chances… Anyway, I turned the 16-minute radio segment into a YouTube clip by adding some images for comic effect. You can see “Bas Rutten Calling” Parts 1 & 2 on the Video Page of this website. I thought this was going to be the next Chris Crocker “Leave Britney Alone” Internet phenomenon… But it didn’t get that many views (At this stage they’ve been up for a few weeks and only a couple of hundred views… pretty lousy). So my good friend Nick Godfrey suggested just uploading one of the prank calls, instead of all 6, reasoning that your average YouTuber only has a 30 second attention span. SO… I employed some of my knowledge gained in my 3 years of studying psychology at a university level and chose to upload the call that I believed would gain the most attention… the one where we called a hooker… because, let’s face it… sex sells… which is also why this time I gave it the title “Bas Rutten Soundboard Prank Call Hooker,” and here it is:

    Now, you’ll notice I also chose a display image of a sexy woman speaking on the phone (sex sells). And what do you know? Within 19 hours it was ranked #10 most viewed video on YouTube Australia in the category of ‘Comedy’ for February 5th 2008!

    Now, this has also had some additional flow-on effects… For some reason, an Italian porn site decided to embed my video on their website. Now, as I included my website URL on one of the images in the video, there have been a recent spike in the number of (I assume horny) Internet users from Italy and nearby European nations (as well as The Netherlands – home of Bas Rutten), visiting davidmgreen.com. According to my statistics below I’ve had more views from those countries than my own native Australia!

    The moral of this story: Behold the powerful result of an Adelaide night where Bas Rutten, sex and comedy combined with the Internet!
